Financial accounting
Books that close on time, statements you can hand to a bank or a board, and an accountant who will explain the numbers when they do not add up. Or, if you need an accountant for a defined period, one by the hour.
When this is the right fit
- Your books close late, or never quite close.
- A lender, grantor, board, or auditor is asking for statements you do not have.
- Your bookkeeper has left, or is one person covering three roles.
- You have outgrown a spreadsheet-based system.
- You need an accountant for a defined number of hours, such as a cleanup, a system migration, a leave backfill, or a public-sector financial management task.
What we deliver, and when
| Deliverable | Cadence |
|---|---|
| Bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations | Monthly |
| Balance sheet and income statement | Monthly |
| Management report with variances and notes | Monthly |
| Review with your lead accountant, in writing or on a video meeting if you prefer | Monthly |
| Tax return preparation and filing | Annually |
| Year-end close package for your auditor | Annually |
| Accounts payable, invoicing, and cash forecasting | Scoped per engagement |
Working with your auditor. We prepare the books, the management reports, the tax returns, and the year-end package. Audited, reviewed, and compiled financial statements are issued by an independent licensed CPA firm, and we work directly with yours so nothing falls between us. Advisory and CFO-level work is scoped separately.
Tools
QuickBooks Online most often, plus the payroll, bill-pay, and expense tools already connected to it. We work in your system. We do not make you migrate to ours.
How an engagement runs
- Books review. A fixed-scope review with a written summary of the current state and what it will take to put in order.
- Cleanup, if needed. Scoped and priced separately, with a finish date.
- Monthly rhythm begins. The same lead accountant every month: reconciliations first, then statements, then the management report.
- Quarterly check on whether the scope still fits what you need.
Accountants by the hour
For finance teams that need a qualified accountant for a defined number of hours rather than a monthly engagement.
- A named accountant at the level you need, who stays on your work for the duration. You approve any substitution.
- An hourly rate and a not-to-exceed ceiling in writing before the first hour is billed.
- A weekly timesheet with a one-paragraph summary and hours remaining against the ceiling.
- Work is remote by default, with on-site time in Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland by arrangement.
Typical uses: year-end surge and the auditor’s request list; cleanup or catch-up before a financing, a grant report, or a sale; covering a departed or absent accountant until the replacement starts; an accounting system migration; financial management support on a public-sector engagement.
Attest work is performed by an independent CPA firm. Fractional CFO work is scoped separately.
Who does the work
A lead accountant you will have corresponded with before you sign, and who stays on your account. Client financial data lives in your own systems. Our access is named, role-limited, protected by multi-factor authentication, and removed the day an engagement ends.
